An Initial Coin Offering (ICOs) is a new paradigm to raise new venture capital. A startup usually creates a new digital currency, selling it in a “token sale” to crowdfund money and bypass traditional regulations. If that cryptocurrency succeeds and increases in value the investor has made a profit, like in the stock market. But unlike in the stock market, the token holder has no ownership rights of the company or other legal entitlements.
